India will look to upset Oman as they two sides face off in the 3rd place play-offs of the CAFA Nations Cup on Monday. Both sides finished second in their respective groups so they play for 3rd place while Iran and Uzbekistan will fight in the final courtesy of topping their groups.

India edged past Tajikistan 2-1 in their opening match in a terrific start to coach Khalid Jamil’s tenure but soon reverted to type when they failed to score in their remaining two group matches, losing 3-0 to Asian powerhouses Iran and drawing 0-0 with Afghanistan.

Oman, ranked 79th in the world, played drew 1-1 with Uzbekistan, who have qualified for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and beat Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan by identical margins of 2-1 each. India have their work cut out on Monday and will have to be at their very best if they hope to topple Oman.
