Arsenal started off brightly after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Arsenal the lead in the 12th minute after a quick counter-attack by Bukayo Saka. Mikel Arteta’s team dominated the first half but Liverpool stood their ground well. In the second half, the tables turned as Liverpool penned Arsenal in their own box for the majority of the 45 minutes. Substitute Takumi Minamino equalised in the 73rd minute after a clever buildup play with Mohamed Salah. The match ended 1-1 at the full 90 minutes.

Since the goal, Liverpool have upped the ante for the winner now, and Mane comes so close to getting the potential winner here, but Martinez stops the Senegalese with his wide frame. Robertson's cross was well chested down, but Mane couldn't finish it off.
THE SUBSTITUTE SCORES! The Japanese attacker has brought Liverpool back into the game after a brilliant Liverpool buildup play involving Salah. The Egyptian gets the ball on the right wing and he drifts inside and he plays a one two with Minamino, and the Japanese puts the ball in the back of the net with his right foot for his first goal in that iconic red shirt. Minamino gets a shot on target from way afar, but it doesn't trouble Martinez at all. Arsenal are comfortable parked inside their own half and are well dealing with Keita's through balls. Saka does get a rare shot off but nothing comes off it.

After Mane's shot was saved by Martinez, in an attempt to keep up the tempo Milner fouls Nketiah. Yellow card.
A scrappy start to the half so far, but Liverpool broke away through the middle and Firmino gets past two midfielders and has a shot from way outside the box, but his curling effort is just wide. Martinez was at full stretch though.
And the action restarts with Liverpool hoping to register their first shot on target.

Arsenal are looking for a shock second goal and their wingbacks are on fire lately. Bellerin nutmegs Mane on the left wing and then Maitland-Niles earns a freekick on the other side., but nothing came from either chances.
Liverpool are parked inside Arsenal's half now with Robertsona and Mane threatening from the left wing. Milner is in the thick of things and is trying to bring Salah and Firmino into the fold. Arsenal are defending quite well as a unit though.
A couple of minutes earlier, Sadio Mane went down in the box as Liverpool penned Arsenal inside their box, but the referee adjudged no foul. Bellerin did brush against Mane, but therewasn't enough. VAR agrees.
The domination with the ball continues as Arsenal carve another chance against a hapless Liverpool defence. Bukayo Saka finds Eddie Nketiah and he lifts his shot over the bar from just outside the box.
Since the goal, it has all been Arsenal with Alisson pulling off a decent save to deny Eddie Nketiah. Liverpool's midfield and and defence are suffering from a lack of communication here. Klopp's men look a bit shaken now.
THAT MAN AGAIN! After Milner headed over the bar on the opposite end, Aubameyang puts Arsenal in front. He scores at Wembley again and this time, it's a stunning curler from the left wing with his right foot. Nothing Alisson could do about that.
van Dijk has the ball in the back of the net but it's disallowed for offside. Robertson whips one in from an indirect free kick, but the centre-back did not time his run properly. A quick VAR check and the decision stands.
Liverpool are dominating with the ball right from the start here as Robertson and Milner are dictating the tempo quite often on the left side. Alisson tries to find Mane on the break, but Holding deals with the forward well. Arsenal still settling.

Community Shield is a trophy both clubs have lifted 15 times in the past — only Manchester United have won it more often. This is the fourth Charity/Community Shield between these teams — Liverpool won in 1979 and 1989 but Arsenal won 1-0 in 2002.
Liverpool are without the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold, so Neco Williams starts at right-back. With Jordan Henderson also absent, James Milner is in midfield alongside Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum. New signing Kostas Tsimikas is on the bench. Arsenal start with Buyako Saka and Eddie Nketiah in attack with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as both Nicolas Pepe or Alexander Lacazette are still in quarantine. Mohamed Elneny makes his first appearance for Arsenal since May 2019.
Chelsea won the first Women's Community Shield to be played at Wembley as the last season's WSL champions defeated Manchester City 2-0. Millie Bright and Erin Cuthbert were the goalscorers for the London club.
