Nehal Wadhera will replace the injured Mandeep Singh in the North Zone team for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced in a press release on Thursday. While the BCCI did not specify the nature of Mandeep’s injury, it is learnt that the players has sustained a groin injury. Meanwhile, Jayant Yadav was named as the captain of the North Zone team.
“We received intimation this morning from the Punjab Cricket Association that Mandeep Singh had gotten injured and would be unavailable for the Duleep Trophy. Selectors discussed the issue and unanimously decided that Nehal Wadhera would be the replacement for Mandeep Singh. Since Mandeep Singh was the captain of the side, the Committee also picked Jayant Yadav to lead the North Zone team in the Duleep Trophy,” the statement added.

While Priyank Panchal was named the captain of the West Zone squad, Hanuma Vihari will captain South Zone in the tournament.
