Popular Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was arrested at the Dubai International Airport on Monday, Geo News reported.
He was apprehended over a defamation complaint filed by his former manager Salman Ahmed, the report said.
Khan, who reached Dubai from Lahore for an event, was taken into police custody at the immigration center of the airport and later moved to Burj Dubai police station for questioning.
However, the singer denied such reports and posted a video calling it ‘fake and baseless’.
This incident adds to ongoing tensions between Khan and Ahmed, who has previously lodged legal cases against the singer. Sources said that a few months earlier Ahmad was dismissed by Khan following a dispute, reported Geo News.
The report further stated that the ‘Afreen’ singer was accompanied by his brother-in-law Bakka Burki on this trip. So far, the exact charges of the complaint are yet to be know.
