A day after the Congress organised the nationwide ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ agitation, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Sunday lashed out at the Opposition party.

Criticising the abusive remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother at a recent Opposition rally led by Rahul Gandhi and Tejaswi Yadav in Bihar, CM Saha said, “RJD and Congress leaders could not digest that the PM came from a poor family. They could not tolerate that a chaiwala became the PM. He has been criticised several times. Now, it is extreme. Government will come and go, but the bad language, I feel, has hurt Bihar’s culture, and it has hurt India’s culture at large. People would never take it in good spirit.”

Saha also criticised the CPI(M), stating that the Opposition party has the culture to “confuse people”.

“Forget about giving respect to good things; they attempt to present the thing in a polluted way to create confusion among people,” he said.

Referring to last month’s attack on BJP workers at Asharambari while they were listening to PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat program, CM Saha said that this culture was seen during the erstwhile Left Front and Congress regimes, and that such kind of politics should end. He, thereafter, added that he personally decided to attend this month’s Mann ki Baat event at Asharambari.

At least three people were injured during last month’s attack on BJP workers, purportedly carried out by members of ally Tipra Motha.
