April 8: West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who has not played international cricket for two months because of a shoulder injury, has been recalled for the World Cup in England.

The left-handed Chanderpaul is in West Indies’s final squad of 15 for the tournament from May 14-June 20, having been kept out of action after damaging his right shoulder shortly before their tour of South Africa ended in February.

Chanderpaul was sent to a New York hospital for scans and examinations recently, after which an orthopaedic surgeon recommended further rehabilitation for 10 days.

Brian Lara captains the West Indian squad which includes limited overs specialists Phil Simmons and Keith Arthurton, who are both now overlooked at Test level.

There is also a place for newcomer Henderson Bryan, a pace bowling all-rounder from Barbados who is yet to play for West Indies in Tests or One-Day matches. He had a successful season in the domestic Busta Cup first-class competition.

The squad: Brian Lara(captain), Stuart Williams, Sherwin Campbell, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Carl Hooper, Jimmy Adams, Keith Arthurton, Phil Simmons, Ridley Jacobs, Henderson Bryan, Nehemiah Perry, Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, Mervyn Dillon, Reon King.
