Angry with the talati,a panchayat official, who allegedly demanded money to provide documents like birth and death certificates, residents of three villages in Pavi-Jetpur taluka of Vadodara district sealed the panchayat office last Friday. Since then the villagers have not allowed the talati to enter the office premises.

Around 7,500 people live in Degla,Nani Amrol and Bordha villages, which fall under Bordha Juth Panchayat. The villagers have submitted a written complain to the Vadodara District Development Officer. The talati,on the other hand, argued that he had tried to stop the irregularities committed by the villagers. “I don’t allow them to get false certificates and that is why they have created trouble,” said the talati,Parsing Rathwa.
