The US has shared with close ally Israel its contingency plans for a possible military attack on Iran should diplomacy fail to contain Tehrans nuclear ambitions,a media report said Sunday.
US National Security Adviser Don Donilon shared the details with Israels Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his recent visit to Jerusalem two weeks ago,an American official told the daily Haaretz on condition of anonymity.
Netanyahu is said to have hosted Donilon at a three-hour dinner when Israels NSA,Yaakov Amidror,is also said to have been present for part of the time.
Renewing US commitment to Israels security,Donilon is said to have conveyed to the Israeli premier that reports of such preparations by the US are not just a way to assuage Israels concerns but that Washington was seriously preparing for the possibility that negotiations will reach a dead end and military action will become necessary.
The US official reportedly said that Donilon shared information on Washingtons weaponry and military capabilities for dealing with Irans nuclear facilities, including those deep underground.
The Israeli government denied the Haaretz report.
In another development being linked to possible preparations for an attack, the Secretary of the US Air Force,Michael Donley, told the Capitol Hill Club that the forces new bunker buster bombs were ready for use.
