Unidentified vessel collides with Indian fishing boat

A fishing boat registered at Porbandar was badly damaged when it collided with an unknown vessel off the Okha-Dwarka coast in the Arabian Sea early Wednesday morning. Six people onboard the boat were rescued.

“The collision occurred around 5 am,” Porbandar Fishing Boat Association Secretary Manish Lodhari said. “Immediately after the collision,the other vessel switched off its power supply and fled the scene.” He said the crew were rescued by other fishing boats and brought back safely to the Okha port.

“The damage to Mother (the fishing boat) is estimated at around Rs 5 lakh. We have informed the Cost Guard,Customs and port officials about the incident. We have requested them to trace the unidentified vessel and take appropriate action,” Lodhari said.
