Based on The Green Hornet, the radio series created by George W Trendle, the film is an action-comedy.

It revolves around Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) a hedonistic son of a media magnet. After his dad’s mysterious death Britt, who inherits the vast empire, befriends Kato (Jay Chou) and the two set out to do something meaningful in life. They decide to fight crime by becoming criminals.

Every night,Britt fights crime as the masked superhero Green Hornet with his friend and martial arts expert Kato, who using his ingenuity and skill builds an indestructible car known as Black Beauty. The Green Hornet and Kato quickly start making a name for themselves, and with the help of Britts new secretary,Lenore Case (Cameron Diaz),the trio begins hunting down the man who controls LAs gritty underworld,Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz).

Director Michel Gondry says: I always wanted to do something for a wider audience, but from an outsiders perspective. My last film,Be Kind,Rewind, with Jack Black and Mos Def,had a schizophrenic aspect to it. In this film, the relationship between Seth Rogan and the guy who plays Kato,Jay Chou,is very friendly and humane. Also there are parts of the film that are told in flashback or as a dream sequence.
