The state CID has interrogated Kolkata businessman Balaram Chowdhury in connection with the murder of Junior Mridha,a 26-year-old software engineer who was shot dead by unidentified assailants six months ago.
Chowdhury,a former Mohun Bagan Club secretary, was called to the CID headquarters and interrogated on Monday, said officials. Yes,we called him for interrogation… But we will not divulge the outcome… We will do it only to the court of law, said IG II,CID Adhir Sharma. Chowdhury denied being questioned.
Sources in the police said contract killers might have been engaged to eliminate the techie on July 12 last year.
Chowdhurys questioning has brought hope to Juniors parents. We would have been dead following the shock of the death of our only son. But we want to live on,to see the end of this case and the culprits getting punished, said Sweta,Juniors mother.
According to the parents,Junior was involved with Priyanka Chowdhury, the daughter-in-law of Balaram Chowdhury. Junior and Priyanka had met through a social networking site. Sweta alleged that one of Priyankas brother-in-law was involved in the conspiracy to eliminate Junior.
Juniors father Samaresh Mridha said,If they were so unhappy with him, they should have talked to us or my son before taking such a step.
