Soyabean sowing is expected to gain momentum from the first week of July with the arrival of monsoon rains in key producing states, including Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, say experts.
Since there has been one round of rains, the amount of moisture in the air is high, which will facilitate sowing once the monsoon comes,Soyabean Processors Association of India (SOPA) Spokesperson and Coordinator Rajesh Agarwal said.
“Once sowing starts,it will complete in 10 days,” he added.
Madhya Pradesh,Maharashtra and Rajasthan are the three largest oilseed producers in the country and constitute about 55 per cent,30 per cent and nine per cent of the total soyabean acreage, respectively,as per SOPA data.
“Some sowing takes place in Madhya Pradesh even before monsoon, barring which there has been no sowing.
