SC seeks report on Sori’s ‘torture’

The court passed the direction after examining the pebbles and the medical report prepared by a team of doctors from NRS Medical College and Hospital,Kolkata.

The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Chhattisgarh government to file an affidavit on allegations that pebbles were inserted into private parts of alleged Maoist activist Soni Sori by the police and asked the state to shift her from Dantewada jail to Raipur Central Jail.

“He has to answer. There are very serious allegations,” a Bench of Justices Altamas Kabir and SS Nijjar said while referring to the Sori’s affidavit that the alleged torture was perpetrated at the behest of Dantewada SP Amit Garg.
