Russia’s car production decreased by 63 per cent in the first ten months of the year,as compared to the same period of 2008.
The production has stood at 578,093 units which is down by 63 per cent for this period,the Prime Tass economic news agency said,quoting a report of the ASM Holding,which monitors the country’s automobile industry.
In January-October 2009,Russia’s car production dropped by 61.9 per cent,as compared to the same months of 2008,and amounted to 482,370 cars.
In the reporting period,the output of foreign-brand cars in Russia went down by 44 per cent versus the same period of 2008,and totalled 227,552 cars,the economic news agency said.
In the first ten months of the current year,car production by Russia-located assembling plants amounted to 155,951 cars,or 48.1 per cent smaller than in January-October last year.
In the period under review,only one Russia-based plant,which assembling foreign-brand cars (Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia),reported a 20.3-per cent hike in its output,it said.
