A Norwegian prosecutor has filed charges against an Islamist cleric for encouraging supporters to avenge his imprisonment for making death threats.
Iraqi-born Najmaddin Faraj Ahmad,also known as Mullah Krekar,was sentenced in April to five years in jail for making death threats against Norwegian officials for a 2005 decision to deport him.
Prosecutor Marit Bakkevig Wednesday filed charges against Krekar, the founder of Ansar al-Islam,a Kurdish group listed as a terrorist organisation by the US, for posting online threats during that trial,including encouraging killings or kidnappings of Norwegians if he was imprisoned.
