Job scam: Main accused surrenders

A concerned father has admitted that he had paid Rs 23 lakh for government jobs for his three children,police said.

One of the main accused in the job-for-money scam,who was absconding after the racket became public,today surrendered before a court here.

Abilash S Pillai,a clerk in the Waynad Collectorate and alleged to be the kingpin in the racket,surrendered in a magistrate court in Ernakulam.

Along with Pillai,his relative Suraj Krishna,another accused,also surrendered in the court.

The two were sent to judicial custody till December 22.

The scam in which six youths were appointed as lower division clerks in Waynad district without appearing for Public Service Commission test has triggered a political outcry in the state.

The Kerala Government has suspended two Wynad district administration officials including the additional district magistrate,while all the six who secured jobs through fraudulent means were dismissed.

A woman,who had got a government job using the fake PSC appointment letter,was arrested along with her father from Kollam yesterday.

Her father had admitted that he had paid Rs 23 lakh for government jobs for his three children,police said.

The Kerala PSC had sought an investigation by the Director General of Police to expose the culprits behind the scandal.
