Hong Kong stocks close 1 pct lower

The good news was that the market pared earlier losses.

After looking like effecting a major loss for most of the day,HK stock managed to pull back.

Hong Kong stocks ended Thursday about 1 percent lower but recovered some losses after slumping in late afternoon trade as worries over tightening policies in China pushed Shanghai stocks down 4 percent.

The benchmark Hang Seng closed nearly 200 points lower at 20,133.41. The China Enterprises Index of top locally listed companies fell 0.8 percent.
