The government on Tuesday stepped up moves to ease potential hurdles before the Nuclear Liability Bill in Parliament by holding consultations with Opposition leaders with the assurance that all reasonable concerns would be accommodated through the Standing Committee looking into the issue where discussions are now drawing to a close.
The government will look at all reasonable proposals to make the Bill stronger, Prithviraj Chavan,the Minister of State (independent charge) for science and technology,told The Indian Express. Chavan met CPM leader Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday as part of the exercise to seek support of political parties for the Bill. He is likely to meet S S Ahluwalia,the BJP deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha,on Wednesday,besides leaders of other parties,including the SP,RJD and the BSP.
