French national assault: 70 passengers to be quizzed

A day after French national,Frank Wilfred,died following a brutal assault on Sachkhand Express,the Haryana Police identified 70 passengers,who were travelling in the compartment for questioning.

Six police teams have been constituted and entrusted with the task of questioning the passengers who were travelling in the same compartment as Wilfred,a top official said.

Haryana Inspector General of Police (Rail) V Kamaraja said,We have identified 70 passengers,who were in the compartment,in which Wilfred was allegedly assaulted. The Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE),Manoj Kumar,is also being interrogated. However,the exact motive behind the assault is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile,officials of the French embassy on Friday received Wilfreds body from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research,Chandigarh,and took it to Delhi,from where it would be sent to his native place in France.

The Centre on Friday deplored Wilfreds death.

Its a very sad incident. I deplore the incident. I am sure appropriate action would be taken, Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur told reporters outside Parliament.
