Anuradha Bali alias Fiza,the ex-wife of former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan alias Chand Mohammad,was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her Sector 48 home in Mohali Monday.
Balis body was found in the ground floor bedroom,with a bottle of liquor nearby. The body was highly decomposed,with maggots crawling over it. Police said preliminary inquiries indicated she may have died four days ago. They were waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the cause of death.
Satpal,an uncle of 39-year-old Bali,said he had spoken to her last on the phone on August 1,and she had asked him to come over the next day. He said he had been calling her repeatedly but had got no response.
I came to her house last evening and called out her name but she didnt respond, Satpal said. The uncle claimed that he had found the door open,but rather than raising an alarm,he had gone to sleep on the first floor.
She usually did not rise before noon,so I wasnt particularly alarmed, he added,saying he only started getting worried around 11 this morning when she again didnt respond to his calls. Satpal said he finally pushed open the door of her bedroom,and was overpowered by the stench within.
