The CBI has registered an FIR against two curators of the National Museum and three others for alleged irregularities in awarding contracts to a private company. The two,J E Dawson and K K S Deori,and the then director general of the museum,U Das,are alleged to have favoured Packwell & Company in awarding contracts worth Rs 74 lakh without inviting tenders.
Dawson,curator of archaeology,is the senior-most curator at the National Museum,while Deori is curator (display).
The case was first reported by The Indian Express in November last year. Two others named by the CBI are research officer K R Behmania and administrative officer Kameshwar Mishra.
The CBI on Saturday carried out searches at seven places in the Capital and registered an FIR after it found evidence to show alleged favour shown to the private firm.
