Film on Lord Ayyappa

The story of Lord Ayyappa and his friendship with Vavar,a Muslim chieftain,is being made into a Malayalam film named Bhoolokarakshakan.

The story of Lord Ayyappa and his friendship with Vavar,a Muslim chieftain,is being made into a Malayalam film named Bhoolokarakshakan. The movie will be released in 35 languages,a temple press release said.

Brahmadattan,son of Sabarimala Tantri (priest) Kantararu Rajeevaru,will act as Lord Ayyappa in the film. The shooting of the film,being directed by Vijeesh Mani,commenced on December 17 in places such as Kailasam,Manasarovar,Mysore Palace,Lakshadweep,Oman and Sabarimala. Famous percussionist Sivamani will compose music for the movie,which spreads the message of friendship and religious harmony. It will be made in 17 foreign languages and 18 Indian languages. Legend has it that Ayyappa had asked his father to build a shrine in memory of his friend,Vavar,close to the main temple. Devotees still follow his instructions and visit the temple only after they have visited the Vavar shrine.
