The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has decided to withdraw the results of the UPPSC (Mains) 2011 examinations in the wake of protests against its new reservation policy.
Job aspirants had gone on the offensive ever since the results were declared early in July, alleging that the general category candidates were being discriminated against due to the faulty reservation policy of the UPPSC.
The decision to withdraw the results followed intervention of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. He intervened after a delegation of anti-reservation job aspirants met him in Lucknow against the UPPSCs reservation policy on Friday.
The matter is before the Allahabad High Court, which has already reserved its judgment on a petition filed by the job aspirants against the allegedly discriminatory policy.
On Saturday,a pro-reservation group among the job aspirants attacked the house of the district president of the Samajwadi Party and sat in protest outside the partys office here.
DIG Allahabad N Ravinder said,Necessary legal action against the protesters will also be taken. Heavy force has been deployed to control the situation.
