Ex-UP minister Jamuna Nishad dies in mishap

Former Uttar Pradesh minister for fisheries Jamuna Prasad Nishad and four others died in a road accident in Barabanki’s Safdarganj area.

Former Uttar Pradesh minister for fisheries Jamuna Prasad Nishad and four others died in a road accident in Barabanki’s Safdarganj area on Friday night. One of the deceased was the driver of the Bolero they were travelling in. The identity of the rest is yet to be ascertained.

The Barabanki police rushed Nishad to Lucknow’s Ram Manohar Hospital for treatment,where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Additional Director General,Law and Order,Brij Lal said: “The Bolero was on way to Lucknow from Faizabad when it collided with a tractor-trolly loaded with bricks.” Nishad had to resign following his alleged involvement in the murder of police constable Krishna Nand Rai,which took place on June 7,2008. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody till he was released on October 23,2010 after Supreme Court granted him bail.
