The government is targeting a four per cent growth in agriculture sector this fiscal.

The government is targeting a four per cent growth in agriculture sector this fiscal,Minister of state for Agriculture K V Thomas said here on Thursday.

To achieve the target,the Fisheries and Animal Husbandry sectors will have to grow by eight per cent,he said after the inauguration of the India International Aqua show here.

Plans to formulate schemes to augment fish and ornament fish production would be finalised at a three day meeting here from April 3 in the presence of Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar,he said.

The Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) will open an Ornamental fish unit in Kerala which would be a joint venture project of the state and the central government,he said.
