The CBI has sought an extension for the Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA),probing the conspiracy behind former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhis assassination. The Government, according to official sources, was yet to take a decision on extending its term, which ended on May 31.
CBI sources said the MDMA,set up by the BJP Governement in 1998 on the recommendation of the Jain Commission, was still functional as it expected post-facto approval from the government. The agency, which is headed by the CBI,includes officials from IB,RAW and Revenue Intelligence.
