Cash for vote: Money traced to 2 businessmen

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has traced a chunk of the Rs 1 crore bribe money used in the cash-for-vote scam to a methanol manufacturer.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has traced a chunk of the Rs 1 crore bribe money used in the cash-for-vote scam to a methanol manufacturer from Chandausi in UP and a businessman from Mysore. The police said there is no way they could establish how the money reached the floor of Parliament.

The police said help was sought from banks to trace the source of the money. The bank officials gave us the names of the people who had withdrawn the money, said a senior police officer. The businessmen told police it was their weekly withdrawals but added they had no idea how it reached the House.
