Cabinet nod for second Vehicle Assembly Building at Sriharikota

SDSC SHAR currently has two operation launchpads providing launch support for satellites.

The Union Cabinet Thursday approved a Rs 363-crore project for a second Vehicle Assembly Building at Satish Dhawan Space Centre,Sriharikota (SDSC-SHAR). SDSC SHAR currently has two operation launchpads providing launch support for satellites. This facility will provide enhanced launch frequency of PSLV and GSLV by facilitating parallel integration operations besides making existing Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) redundant for integration of GSLV MK-III. In view of increasing demand for launching satellites from there,the government approved the second Vehicle Assembly Building at an estimated cost of Rs 363.95 crore with a foreign exchange component of Rs 7 crore.
