BK Modi donates Rs 1 cr to Heritage Ctr

His companies are involved in heritage works in cities like London,New York and Los Angeles

Founder of Singapore-based IT company Si2i Mobility B K Modi has donated SGD 1 million (about Rs 4.1 crore) to the Indian Heritage Centre (IHC) as part of efforts to bring the rich Indian culture in Singapore,The Straits Times reported today.

“We should also use new technologies to attract the youth,” said the 64-year-old Indian national who also chairs the 2.5-billion multinational company.

Modi handed a cheque of SGD 1 million to former Singapore President S R Nathan at a ceremony held yesterday.

Modi’s companies are involved in Indian heritage works in cities such as London,New York and Los Angeles.

Speaking at the ceremony,Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and IHC steering committee chairman S. Iswaran said technology would help overcome the space constraints at the IHC site.

Construction of the IHC would start next year on a 1,000 sq metre site in Singapore’s Little India shopping precinct. Its facilities would include a small-scale museum.

The IHC has embarked on artifact collection drive for the centre which would open in 2014.
