Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal,armed with documents,launched an offensive against the BJP over coal blocks allotment on Saturday.
He demanded that the BJP seek resignation of chief ministers of NDA-ruled states since they executed coal mining leases in their states. The BJP has been demanding resignation of PM Manmohan Singh over coal blocks allotment. PM cant allot any coal mine. It is not in his right. Why should he resign? Sibal said.
He ruled out cancellation of allotment of coal blocks and called the BJPs stalling of Parliament a fascist act.
I want to clear the air about coal allotment as BJP is spreading canards and levelling baseless allegations against the UPA for its role in coal block allotment. We have ample proof to substantiate our charges…. the state government has the power to execute coal mines lease. If they had any objection to any person or company,they should have raised it earlier, he said.
Sibal released letters,which have been made public earlier,by BJP and non-Congress chief ministers,objecting to competitive bidding in allotting coal blocks.
We wanted a debate in Parliament over these issues so that the public is aware of it. BJP stalled Parliament. Their leaders blame us,that we are misusing the majority. Their behaviour is a fascist act. They are blaming us while the lessee is chosen by the state governments,on which the BJP is silent, said Sibal.
