Ban Sanatan Sanstha: Maharashtra to Centre

He said the state government has been asked to provide additional information regarding the nature of cases against the Sanatan Sanstha members.

Citing the recent convictions of two Sanatan Sanstha members in connection with the 2008 blasts,the Maharashtra government has decided to ask the central government to ban the organisation.

“We had earlier recommended the ban,but the central government has sought additional information. We will send information about the recent verdict and other details of cases registered against them,” said State Home Minister R R Patil.

He said the state government has been asked to provide additional information regarding the nature of cases against the Sanatan Sanstha members.

Last week,while speaking in the Rajya Sabha,Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Jitendra Singh said the Maharashtra police had suggested to the state government that the Sanatan Sanstha be included in the category of banned terrorist organisations.
