IIM-Shillong on Monday dubbed allegations against its director as a malicious campaign being carried out by certain vested interests who find the growth of B-schools unpalatable and unacceptable. It accused Star NGO of leading this campaign against the institute. It is noteworthy that since the very beginning, efforts have been made by vested interests to ensure that IIM Shillong is unable to start its operations. This was done through a concerted circulation of e-mails to the members of the Board and the Ministry of HRD, a statement issued by the B-school said.

The statement came as a response to allegations that the director of the institute,Prof Ashok Dutta, was functioning in an autocratic manner. The Prime Minister’s Office has sought views of the HRD Ministry on it. These reports are factually incorrect and intended to stifle a nascent institution. Interestingly much of this campaign has been done by an organisation under the name of Star NGO. This NGO has no address or any mention of office-bearers, the statement said.
