NEW DELHI, OCT 1: Vijay Darda, chairman and managing director of the Lokmat group of newspapers has been elected president of the Indian Newspaper Society at a meeting held in Bangalore. Mammen Mathew of Malayala Manorama is deputy president of the society while Shobha Subrahmanyam of Ananda Bazar Patrika is the new vice-president. Darda is associated with over 25 institutions.

Other members of the executive committee include vice-president N Naresh Mohan (Hindustan Times), honorary treasurer R M Cama (Bombay Samachar), Vivek Goenka (The Indian Express, New Delhi), C A Narayan (The Indian Express, Mumbai) and Mohini Bhullar (India Today).
