NEW DELHI, May 1: The district crime cell of the north-west district have arrested two persons, Rajesh Kumar, 22, and Suresh Kumar, 26, who are wanted in connection with an April 4 shootout in Jatwara village, Jhajjar, Haryana, in which 3 villagers died and 13 others were injured. One of the accused, Suresh Kumar, is a serving sub-inspector in the Central Industrial Security Force. The two were also reportedly involved in the double murder of two property dealers Hansraj and Raj Kumar in Bahadurgarh on the same day.
Acting on a tip off, the two were apprehended when they were travelling in a Maruti car with a fake number plate near the Haiderpur canal bridge.
Kuldeep, 24, who was driving the car was also arrested. Kuldeep Singh reportedly harboured the criminals after the murders on April 4. A double barrel 12 bore shot gun was found from their possession and is suspected to have been used in the crime. The gun reportedly belongs to one of Rajesh’s relatives who is a CISF inspector. Under interrogation, Rajesh Kumar and Suresh Kumar have allegedly confessed their involvement in the sensational killings in Jhajjar and Bahadurgarh. According to the police, they had gone to Jatwara village near Jhajjar on the morning of April 4 alongwith Joginder Singh and others to settle personal scores. There they opened fire on the villagers killing three on the spot and injuring 13 others. From there they proceeded to Bahadurgarh and murdered the property dealers Hansraj and Raj Kumar with whom they wanted to settle a score for their refusal to pay extortion money.
