The challans were made under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act by the local health authority, Dr G. Dewan.

Stern action would be taken against the vendors if they continue to sell spices in loose form, said Dr Dewan. The packets should mention the batch number, manufacturing and expiry date of the product.
