Marcus Trescothick clattered a 76-ball century in his 100th one-day international as England annihilated Bangladesh by 10 wickets at The Oval on Thursday. The opening game in a triangular series always smacked of mismatch but Trescothick, who ended 100 not out for his ninth one-day ton, and Andrew Strauss turned it into a nonsense as the home team won with 25.1 overs to spare.

Trescothick hit 16 fours as England won a one-dayer by 10 wickets for only the second time. Strauss, promoted up the order after England decided to discontinue their experiment of using Geraint Jones as a pinch-hitter, ended 82 not out.

Brief scores:

Bangladesh: 190 all out in 45.2 overs (Aftab Ahmed 51, Mohammad Rafique 30, Mashrafe Mortaza 29 n.o, Gough 2-33, Lewis 3-32, Harmison 4-39) lost to England: 192-0 in 24.5 overs (M.Trescothick 100 n.o, A.Strauss 82 n.o).
