
PUNE March 4: Several prominent leaders will arrive in the city on March 14 to attend the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) convention organised to mark the first anniversary of the party.
MVA founder Suresh Kalamadi today told media persons that Lok Shakti leader Ramakrishna Hegde will inaugurate the convention while Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee will be the chief guest of the inaugural session.
Kalmadi, the convenor of Progressive Alliance, said Lok Tantrik Congress leader Naresh Agarwal, Manipur Congress leader Nipamacha Singh, Petroleum Minister and president of Rajiv Congress K Rammurthy, Tathagat Satpathi of Biju Janata Dal and Aslam Sher Khan will attend the convention.
Kalmadi said the day-long session, which will be attended by about 10,000 delegates from all over the State, will announce the Maharashtra Plan at the concluding session. Kalmadi said all the regional parties were coming together at the convention. He said the member parties of Progressive Alliance have already startedholding similar conventions in their respective states.
Kalmadi vehemently denied that he was planning to rejoin the Congress. He said not a single party of the Progressive Alliance was interested in rejoining the Congress. Kalmadi said they had decided to support the Vajpayee Government, which, he said would complete its term.
