Chennai, Nov 21: Tamil Nadu PWD Minister Durai Murugan said on Friday that Tamil Nadu had received 4.39 tmc ft more Cauvery water from Karnataka in the last five months, than what was recommended by the Cauvery waters disputes Tribunal for the same period.

The state received 182.09 tmc ft of Cauvery water from June to Nov 20, against 177.70 tmc ft recommended by the Tribunal at the rate of 10.16 tmc ft for the month of June, 42.76 for July, 54.72 for August, 29.36 for September, 30.17 for October and 10.53 for November (up to 20th).

Talking to mediapersons at the Secretariat, the Minister said Tamil Nadu had received more water, thanks to heavy rains in Karnataka. Moreover, the three major reservoirs across Cauvery in Karnataka — Kabini, Krishnarajasagar and Hemavathy — had filled up to their capacity, he said.

The water level at Mettur stood at 95.6 ft against its full height of 120 ft. The present storage was 60,486 mc ft against the full capacity of 93,470 mc ft.
