BHUBANESWAR, OCT 19: Three people, including an employee of the Bhubaneswar sessions court, sustained gunshot injuries when some hired assilants fired at them the premises of the court here today.
One of them, who was seriously injured, was shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack, after his condition deteriorated, while the other two had been admitted to Capital Hospital.
Police said the incident was a sequel to a long standing dispute between two families. According to police, the attack was masterminded by the members of Mangaraj family on Kharvela and Tikan Jena.
Members of both the families had come to attend the court regarding an old case when the miscreants opened fire indiscrimantely on the Jenas after they were sighted on the court premises and made good their escape.
Police seized a countrymade pistol, a few rounds of ammunition and a Maruti car used by the assilants from the spot.
Director General of Police, the DIG and the Khurda district Superintendent of Police are camping at the site. A manhunt is on to nab the culprits.
Sources said the conflict between the two families was going on for the last few years and so far has claimed twelve lives from both sides.
