SALEM, July 25: The public sector Tamil Nadu Magnesites (TANMAG), which had declared a lay-off for a month since February, owing to the Supreme Court order forbidding non-forest activity in forest areas without permission from the Central Government, has now been allowed to continue work for six more months. About 90% of the magnesite mined in India is produced in Salem, and of this, TANMAG contributes some 25%.
