
Pemba Tamang of Army won gold in the rapid-fire pistol event with a score of 774 at the 51st National Shooting Championship here today at Rifle Club. He shot 580 in the qualifying round and his score in the finals was 194. Vijay Kumar of Army and Rahul Panwar of Navy won the silver and bronze medal respectively. Kumar shot 768.8 (572+197). Panwar was at 7th place after the qualifying rounds and was tied with Harpreet Singh at 559. In the tie-shoot, he was ranked sixth, but with his excellent scoring in the finals (191), he clinched the bronze. In the qualifying round, Ram Kishan of Army was third, but was finally ranked sixth with a score of 736.4 (565+171).
The senior team gold medal was won by Army with a total score of 1717/1800. The team, consisting of Vijay Kumar (572), Pemba Tamang (580) and Ram Kishan (565), won gold. Silver and bronze medals were won by BSF and Navy with a total score of 1666 and 1653 respectively.
The junior individual event was won by Hambir Singh of Army with a score of 554/600. Silver and bronze medals were won by Narender Singh and Gurpreet Singh, both from the Army.
