Hundreds of students from different DAV public schools today protested before Bihar Governor Buta Singh demanding release of kidnapped fellow student Gaurav Kumar.

Gaurav, son of a businessman and a Class IV student of DAV Public School, Danapur, was abducted by armed men while he was returning from school, around 13 days ago.

The students, holding placards, waited for the arrival of the Governor to garland the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Maidan here. As soon as he arrived, they started raising slogans — Golu ko riha karao (act to get Golu released), Gandhi ke desh mein bachche surakshit nahin hain (Children are not safe in Gandhi’s country) and Governor uncle, protect us from kidnappers.

The case has reached the Patna High Court as well. A division bench has directed the state police to rescue the boy by October 4. Earlier, the court had set the deadline of September 30. After the police failed, the court had come down strongly against the police for failing to instill a sense of security among the people.
