St. Anthony’s, Chembur beat Vidya Niketan 26-15 to bag the mini girls title, in the XXI Bombay YMCA Open Basketball Tournament, at the Ghatkopar YMCA on Friday.

Aleesha Jethra top scored with eight points to spearhead the formidable St. Anthony’s charge as they led by a comfortable 20-4 margin at half time to take the match away in the first half.

In a men’s Pool ‘A’ tie, Maharashtra State Police beat Nagpada Neighbourhood House (NNH) 72-61 to fashion their second win in the three-team pool and seal their place in the final.

In Pool ‘B’, Mastan YMCA registered their first win in two outings when they beat Bandra YMCA 51-47 in a thrilling match.

Mastan, who led 30-23 at half-time, encountered a surprise second-half challenge from Bandra YMCA who fell just short in the fourth and final quarter.

Results: Mini Girls (Final): St. Anthony’s, Chembur 26 (Aleesha Jhetra 8) bt Vidya Niketan 15 (Geetika 8). HT: 20-4.

Men’s League: Pool B: Mastan YMCA 51 (Sameer 13, Shoeb 11) bt Bandra YMCA 47 (Aniket Aroskar 14). HT: 30-23.
