A Humble Manmohan Singh apologised to the Director of the National Library in Kolkata for disrupting its normal functioning during the day when he was inaugurating the CII’s partnership summit. The National Library was out of bounds for scholars till late Wednesday afternoon due to the for the programme. ‘‘My sincere apology for causing inconvenience to the scholars and students,’’ said the PM to Prof Sudhendu Mondal during the summit.

Over 300 day readers who normally turn up to study at the library each day had the gates closed on them in the midst of an unprecedented security cordon set up for the meet.
