SATARA, Jan 3: The indefinite strike by Satara Municipal Council’s employees was called off on Saturday after the SMC president agreed to their demands. The employees were seeking immediate payment of salary arrears and promotion among other demands. The strike was called by the employees’ union. They gathered at Gandhi Bhavan and marched to the council. President Ashok Mane settled the issue. He also ordered an enquiry against complaints about staff being employed at the residence of some council officials.
