EXPRESS NEWS SERVICEMUMBAI, Jan 1: A twenty-one-year-old married woman along with her parents and three others were arrested by the Pantnagar police on Monday for allegedly breaking into the residence of her in-laws and decamping with gold ornaments worth Rs 76,500. According to the Pantnagar police, Leena Dattatray Shinde was married to Dattatray Namdeo Shinde on May 8, 1997.
After three days of marriage Leena left her in-laws to live with her parents. Police sources said that she had filed an application before the Women’s Commission where she mentioned that she does not like her husband and would not like to live with him any longer.
On December 29, Leena, parents Dyaneshwar Haribhau Jagdale (49), Kusum Dyaneshwar Jagdale (45), Santosh Kariamma Shetty (22), Raees Habid Khan (36), Suhas Meharam Masurkar (25), Ram Angale and Ashok Dungare barged into Dattatray’s residence at Chittu Koli Chawl, Raigad Chowk, Ghatkopar and threatened Dattratrey’s mother Hirabai Namdeo Shinde (57) and decamped with jewellery worth Rs 76, 500.
A complaint was lodged with the Pantnagar police and subsequently all the accused except Ram Angale and Ashok Dungare were arrested. Angale and Dungare who were absconding moved the Sessions Court for anticipatory bail which they managed to obtain till January 2, 1997. Pantnagar Police have registered a case under Sections 365, 395, 363, 452, 341, 324, 370 and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code. Police said that most of the valuables looted have been recovered and inquiry is on.
