CHANDIGARH, Nov 4: SD College-32 knocked out Government College-46, 47-20, to enter the league stage of the Punjab University Inter-College men’s basketball tournament at PU Campus today.
Dinesh Kumar with 18 points led the SD’s attack while Harkanwar Singh sunk 7 points. The eventual winners were leading 32-9 at the break.
In the second session SD cagers played at a leisurly pace which gave breathing space to Govt College players, who added 11 points more to their total (20-47).
Ramesh (8) and Devinder (6) scored for GC-46.
In another match PU Campus beat Punjab Engineeering College 75-40.
For PU Campus Tarun Kumar top scored with 24 points while Vikas Rai contributed 18 points. Amit Vij and Rohit Kapoor got 16 points each for PEC.
In the last match of the day, DAV College-10 lost to DAV College, Hoshiarpur 51-75.Hoshiarpur team also made into the league stage.
Manpreet Singh (18), Varun (17) were the main scorers for Hoshiarpur side while Sushil Hooda got 19 points for DAV-10.
The league matches will start tomorrow.
