MUMBAI, June 15: A shopkeeper in Navi Mumbai was kidnapped by a gang of five last night from his shop in Sanpada. Navi Mumbai police said Shantaram Goma Patil (38) was sitting in his shop located near Hotel Vaishali at Sector 5, when the accused, Ranjan Shetty and his accomplices dragged Patil into a Maruti van and fled.

Police inquiries revealed that the kidnapping took place due to old animosity over money. Patil’s brother Arun Soma Patil lodged a complaint with the Turbhe police.
