JOHANNESBURG, AUGUST 30: A South African of Indian origin belonging to a leading business family of Durban shot dead his elder brother in a fit of anger following alleged differences over how to share the family money and property.

The Gujurati Valjee family, who run supermarkets and other businesses in Durban and its nearby areas, was shattered at the weekend when Himatlal `Jumbo’ Valjee, 53, was shot dead by his younger brother, Mansook Manna Valjee, 49.

Family members said following an argument between the two brothers, Mansook Valjee drew out his gun and shot his elder brother in the stomach. It is believed that the argument broke out over money and the breaking down of a wall in a building in central Durban, owned by the Valjee family trust.

The six Valjee brothers are main beneficiaries.
