NAGPUR, June 9: The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Prof Rajendra Singh blasted senior Congress leaders for lying prostate in front of Sonia Gandhi with an invitation to head their party.
Sonia is in no way qualified to head the 112-year old Congress organisation. The `fair skinned lady’ is still a foreigner, though married to `an Indian pilot’. She is no Annie Besant and her case cannot be compared with that of Sister Nivedita or Aurobindo Ashram Mother. Yet, Congressmen are lying prostate in front of her with an invitation to head the party, the RSS chief said launching a sharp attack on political leaders for having no self respect and developing slave mentality.
Singh, better known in Sangh Parivar and outside as Rajjubhaiya, was addressing senior selected swayamsewaks attending the annual national-level summer camp at Hedgewar Smruti Bhavan. The RSS chief was equally critical of Janata Dal leaders. The likes of Deve Gowda and Laloo Prasad Yadav cannot inspire youths, he said.
In his review of India’s performance in various sectors in last 50 years, he said the performance in important areas has remained bleak because of the weak political leadership. The performance on economic front can be described as disaster. Even in the socio-cultural field, in the matter of universalisation of education and in case of improving judicial and administrative systems, sincere efforts to bring about desired changes were lacking. According to him, there has been an erosion of moral values because of these spineless leaders, who are victims of slave mentality. The quality of leadership in last 50 years has gone down to such a depth that people have lost faith in them. Like potatoes and tomatoes in vegetable markets, the leaders have become a purchasable commodity.
On the economic front the failure is more glaring. The external debt has gone up to Rs 4.50 lakh crore and the internal loan to Rs 4 lakh crore. The economy is in dumps as the rulers have forgotten the `swadeshi mantra’, the RSS chief said. Expressing concern over failures of the political leaders in post-independence period, he said while India has failed to make a mark at the international levels, Indians as individuals have done exceedingly well in almost all important fields in advanced countries. Indians are known world over as hardworking and disciplined lot.
He said if Indians can perform better than the best anywhere in the world, then India as a nation is bound to make a mark. The need is to provide a better leadership capable of inspiring confidence among youths.Earlier, Rajasthan Sanghcalak Omprakash Arya, the camp in-charge, welcomed the guests.
